CVC (Autonomous Regional Corporation of Valle del Cauca) is a public entity responsible for managing the renewable natural resources and the environment of the Valle del Cauca as the highest environmental authority. In partnership with social actors, it promotes a healthy environment, contributing to the improvement of the population’s quality of life and the region’s competitiveness within the framework of sustainable development. Since its creation in 1954, it has led initiatives in conservation, watershed management, and sustainable development projects, establishing itself as a pioneering entity in impactful regional environmental policies.
Departmental System of Protected Areas of the Valle del Cauca

Since 2000, CVC has led an initiative with the support of National Parks and the Governorate of the Valle, formalized by Ordinance 471/2017. This initiative seeks to ensure the conservation of biodiversity and its ecosystem services in the Valle del Cauca through the integration of principles, norms, actions, and resources. It comprises protected areas and complementary strategies, involving more than 500 public and private actors in over 50 articulation scenarios. Its objectives include defining conservation priorities, promoting the creation and management of protected areas, and fostering community participation. This initiative not only positively impacts environmental sustainability but also promotes social inclusion, creates collaboration opportunities, and strengthens productive chains.
Driving Sustainable Development through Green and Inclusive Businesses

CVC leads the national strategy for Green and Inclusive Businesses in its jurisdiction, driving sustainable development. Currently, there are 296 verified Green Businesses that meet business, environmental, and social criteria in categories such as Bioproducts and Services, Industrial Ecoproducts, and Products for Environmental Quality. The Departmental Green Business Board, which includes more than 23 entities from public, private, academic, and NGO sectors, coordinates these initiatives. There are 25 agroecological markets as commercialization points and the Great Green Showcase has been developed. To date, 60 entrepreneurs have received the Green Business Seal and four Green and Inclusive Entrepreneurship Routes have been carried out to guide entrepreneurs. This strategy strengthens the sustainable use of protected areas and promotes social and economic inclusion.

Impact Project
GeoCVC 2010 is an advanced tool for consulting and analyzing cartographic information of the Valle del Cauca, developed by CVC. Initiated in 1995 and consolidated in 2007, it was officially launched in 2013. This platform received the prestigious “Special Achievement Award in GIS” in 2015, in recognition of its innovation and free promotion of geographic data. Additionally, in 2010, it was included in the “Public Administration Success Bank” program of the Presidency of the Republic as a technological innovation project. GeoCVC 2010 facilitates access to precise geographic information, promoting sustainable development and informed decision-making in the region.

Napolitan Victory Award 2022 and Alfonso Bonilla Aragón 2023
For promoting social development, sustainable agriculture, species conservation, and environmental protection. These awards recognize efforts to raise awareness about the Cauca River, involving local communities, and highlighting its biodiversity and challenges. Through digital educational campaigns, the CVC has promoted knowledge and care for the river, strengthening the bond between citizens and the ecosystem, positioning CVC as a leader in environmental and social communication. The Napolitan Victory Awards are granted by The Washington Academy of Political Arts & Sciences (WAPAS), and the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón Award is bestowed by the Mayor’s Office of Cali.
