INCIVA
The Institute for the Investigation and Preservation of the Cultural and Natural Heritage of Valle del Cauca (INCIVA) is a decentralized institute of the Government of Valle del Cauca that brings together scientific research on biodiversity and archeology. It has five cultural and natural heritage centers in Valle del Cauca: Hacienda El Paraíso in El Cerrito, Calima Archaeological Museum in Calima El Darién, El Vínculo Regional Natural Park in Buga, Juan María Céspedes Botanical Garden in Tuluá and Federico Carlos Lehmann Valencia Museum of Natural Sciences in Cali.

The Juan María Céspedes Botanical Garden created in 1968 with 154 hectares and ecosystems of tropical dry forest and premontane forest is a research and dissemination center of INCIVA that has the internationally recognized TULV Herbarium, an Ethnobotanical Museum with living collections of plants of the neotropics and paleotropics and a house museum with a museum exhibition alluding to the theme of ethnobotany. In 2016, 100 hectares of the Botanical Garden were declared a protected area with the figure of Mateguadua Regional Natural Park, to ensure its conservation.

80 hectares declared PNR in 2006 for the conservation of the tropical dry forest ecosystem as one of the most threatened in the department, the country and the world. The park is a refuge for typical dry forest flora and fauna and is a reference point for biodiversity research. It is an ideal place for bird watching, with a list of nearly 180 registered species, as well as for hiking and contact with nature. The park has a viewpoint overlooking the imposing geographic valley of the Cauca River and a hall with a capacity for 100 people.

Environmental Education Program
INCIVA has been advancing since 2018 the Community Environmental Education Program through which it has achieved presence and impact in the 42 municipalities of Valle del Cauca with the figure of Environmental Managers, who are trained to reach the communities with activities aimed at raising awareness about environmental care, such as planting days and good practices for the correct separation of waste, among others.
