Corporación Parque Explora

Parque Explora is the most visited science center in Colombia, recognized as a symbol of social transformation. It integrates interactive exhibitions, a planetarium, an aquarium, and Exploratorio, a community engagement lab. Its exhibitions explore topics ranging from biodiversity to planetary sciences. It is also an educational and cultural hub that implements projects for national and international partners from the public, private, and international cooperation sectors. Parque Explora is a private corporation in Colombia, not part of any governmental or departmental institution.

Museums, Science Centers and Exhibitions

* This topic is related to COP16 goals 21 and 22.

We conceive and build museums, exhibitions, interactive centers and mobile, digital and editorial strategies. We explore new ways of telling stories, considering accessibility, equity and inclusion as central premises of our design philosophy and embracing an interdisciplinary approach to challenge conventional thinking. Our commitment to interactive museography ensures memorable experiences, balancing user experience and project viability. Across five countries, we’ve developed over 122,000 square meters of new cultural and knowledge spaces. We see ourselves as catalysts for transformative learning experiences, bridging emotions with knowledge to reshape perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors, ultimately fostering healthier relationships between people and the planet.

Transforming education and engaging communities

* This topic is related to COP16 goals 21 and 22.

We develop programs and strategies for educational and social transformation, working in association with schools, community organizations and leaders, decision makers, and allies from the private sector and international cooperation. We see schools as thinking and innovation centers in which students and teachers engage with their territories to foster co-learning processes and address global challenges through interdisciplinary solutions. We also develop participatory scenarios that favor communities’ engagement in scientific, technological and social knowledge co-production practices as a way to strengthen individual and collective capacities to respectfully live on this planet. Our strategies incorporate active-learning pedagogies and a STEM+ approach, and over 17 years more than 60.000 students, teachers and community leaders have taken part.

Collaboration

Biophilia: A national network of biodiversity museums designed to transform our relationship with nature.
This initiative, uniting eight leading institutions across the country —universities, museums and research centers—, aims to foster a deep awareness of human beings and culture being integral parts of the natural world and it encourages reflection on our role to address ecosystems’ collapse. Over 400,000 people will benefit, inspiring a collective commitment to biodiversity conservation.
